Chamaerops Humilis or European Fan Palm is a tough frost hardy palm which is easy to care for as is tolerant of dry conditions and will also thrive in a comparatively windy spot. This particular specimen is rare in the sense that it has a large single trunk in the form more associated with Trachycarpus Fortuneii- the first time I have seen in this form and a one off.
Despite this palm's popularity in contemporary gardens gardeners have grown this hardy specimen for years although it was 'rediscovered' in the late 90's by garden designers.
Despite Chamaerops's exotic appearance it requires very little maintenance but will thrive in a sunny well drained position in any soil.
